Bank of America reports that the extensive outage is nearly resolved.

On Wednesday, many Bank of America customers encountered significant difficulties accessing their accounts, prompting widespread concern and frustration. However, the bank has since announced that the apparent technical glitch is mostly resolved.

The surge in reports regarding issues at Bank of America began around 12:45 PM ET, as noted by Downdetector, a platform that monitors service disruptions. Customers expressed their discontent, with numerous complaints about being unable to see their account balances. Some customers who could log into their accounts were alarmed to find their balances displayed as zero, raising questions about the status of their funds.

In response to the situation, Bank of America issued a statement to CNN, acknowledging the challenges faced by some clients: “Some clients are experiencing issues accessing their accounts and balance information today.” The bank emphasized that it is actively working to resolve these problems, stating, “These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

While the bank confirmed the existence of the issue, it did not provide details about the underlying cause of the outage. Additionally, it remains uncertain when all systems will return to normal functioning, leaving many customers anxious about their account security and accessibility.

Multiple CNN employees with Bank of America accounts reported being unable to log in during the afternoon, which underscores the scale of the outage. One customer shared a troubling message they received, which stated that the current balance amount for one or more of their accounts “may be temporarily unavailable.” This message reflects the confusion and uncertainty experienced by many during the outage.

The impact on customers was significant, as illustrated by one user on Downdetector who expressed concern: “Five accounts show zero balance, over $20K.” This stark revelation raised alarm bells, as customers wondered if their funds were secure. Another user commented on their inability to log in while noting that their spouse could access their account but found the balances to be nonexistent. This inconsistency further exacerbated concerns about the reliability of the bank’s systems. One user humorously pointed out, “Shows my debt just fine though,” highlighting the irony of being able to see liabilities but not available funds.

As Bank of America continues to address these issues, many customers remain vigilant, hoping for a swift resolution to restore normal access to their accounts and ensure the security of their financial information.
